Dan’s role includes responsibility for taking forward the agendas of
several government departments in the region (Department for Business,
Innovation and Skills, Department for Work and Pensions and the Department
for Culture, Media and Sport) as well as our interests in regional
governance and the office’s strategic business planning.
Dan joined the office in July 2007 after spending the previous ten years in
a variety of roles, at HM Treasury, as well as working as Private Secretary
to The Chief Secretary (Treasury’s second Cabinet Minister).
Dan worked as a policy advisor on the legislation setting up the Financial
Services Authority (FSA) and establishing the London congestion charge. He
also took forward the Treasury’s work on reforming management of the
UK radio spectrum, the switchover to digital television and the
establishment of Ofcom.
Dan spent part of his time at the Treasury out on secondment to the BBC
working on the review of its Royal Charter and also to the Civil Aviation
Authority where he worked on reforms to the EU’s frameworks for the
regulation of airlines and passengers’ rights.
