Diana supports the Deputy Regional Director, Environment Group in managing
the work of the group as a whole.
From 2003 to 2007 she was Deputy Director/Head of Division taking a
personal lead on Sustainable Communities and coordinating the work of the
housing, planning and the Durham area team. She has been active on the
Regional Housing Board, and in promoting Planning Reform, Housing Market
Renewal and Strategic Housing Market Assessment. She has been on the boards
of Tees Valley Living and Durham Coalfields Renewal Project.
During 2008 she led the group as Acting Deputy Regional Director,
finalising the County Durham Local Area Agreement and publishing the
Regional Spatial Strategy for the North East. She is now co-ordinating the
work of all the teams within Environment Group, developing the Group
Business Plan and helping to embed good project and programme management
techniques across the three priority projects being led by the group:
- engagement in the new Regional Strategy
- developing a sustainable transport system
- climate change and low carbon
Diana came into the Government Office when it was first created in April
1994 having led teams working on housing, inner city regeneration, planning
and environment in the regional office of the Department of Environment and
Transport and in Yorkshire and the Humber.
She has held various posts, including:
- Deputy Director, Planning and Environment
- Director, Strategy and Resources (which included a spell as Director of
Resources at the Newcastle Disease Emergency Control Centre)
- Director for Change.
Diana is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, and a Gateway
Reviewer for the Office of Government Commerce.
