John is currently on secondment to support a strategic review of governance
and delivery arrangements for Tees Valley Unlimited. As part of the
Government's commitment to Tees Valley and following a request for urgent
support from local partners including the local authorities, One North East
and the Homes and Communities Agency.
John has over 20 years experience on a wide range of economic, urban and
rural regeneration issues. He headed up one of the first inner city
task forces in the country, led the establishment of the Single
Regeneration Budget in the region and played a key role in a wide range of
other regeneration programmes which have had a marked impact on the region.
John qualified as a Town and Country Planner at Newcastle University,
following a degree in Geography from Sheffield University. He was born
in Jarrow, and now lives in Whickham, Gateshead and is married with four
children.
