Dan’s role includes taking forward cross-departmental policy projects and ensuring that policy across the office is coordinated within an overall strategy. Dan is therefore also responsible for the office’s business planning.
Dan joined the office in July 2007. He spent the previous ten years at HM Treasury, in a variety of roles including Private Secretary to the Chief Secretary (HM Treasury’s second cabinet minister). Dan worked as a policy advisor on the legislation setting up the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and establishing the London congestion charge. He also took forward HM Treasury’s work on reforming management of the UK radio spectrum, the switchover to digital television and the establishment of Ofcom.
Dan spent part of his time at HM Treasury out on secondment to the BBC working on the review of its Royal Charter and also to the Civil Aviation Authority where he worked on EU reforms on the regulation of airlines and passengers’ rights.
