Lynda joined the Government Office for the North East as Director of Corporate Services in July 2004. She is now Deputy Regional Director Corporate Management and Resilience with lead responsibility for the full range of corporate management functions and regional resilience.
Prior to joining the Government Office, Lynda spent 30 years working for the NHS and Department of Health in a number of senior roles at national, regional and local level. Most latterly as a senior civil servant and board member with the Directorate of Health and Social Care North. Her main roles have included policy and planning, parliamentary business and media communications and the full range of corporate management functions. As Director of Corporate Affairs for the Northern and Yorkshire Regional Office she led the Change Management Programme for Shifting the Balance of Power in the NHS. She was also instrumental in the establishment of the NHS Appointments Commission for the appointment of chairman and non-executive members to NHS Board.
As a member of a number of national committees and working groups, Lynda gained a wealth of experience across a range of disciplines. Alongside her many roles, she still holds close to heart the ten years she spent working night shift on RVI casualty with a real passion and purpose.
Lynda is married with two sons and is proud to both live and work in the North East of England.
Lynda was awarded the OBE in the New Year honours list 2001 for services to the NHS.
