We use research and analysis to inform our community safety activities and priorities in the region.
The Regional Research and Analysis Programme (RRAP) is part of the Research
Development and Statistics Crime and Policing Group's Research and Analysis
Unit. Researchers from this programme have a presence in all Government
Offices in the regions and in the Welsh Assembly.
The North East Regional Research and Analysis Team is part of the northern
cluster that includes researchers from Yorkshire and the Humber and the
North West.
The Regional Research and Analysis Programme have four main strands of
work:

Supporting performance monitoring of public
service agreements (PSAs) – PSA 23 Making communities safer and
PSA 25 Reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drugs – and local
area agreements.

Building analytical capacity work focuses on
supporting the professional development of researchers and analysts in
the region. This includes providing training, an analyst network
and a quarterly newsletter.

Research and evaluation work includes commissioning,
carrying out and promoting the use of social research in the region and
nationally.

Briefing and advice work includes contributing to
briefings and advising colleagues to help inform regional national
decision making.
