Statistics links

  • The annual Home Office Crime in England and Wales publication combines the reporting of police recorded crime with the results of the British Crime Survey. Local statistics at a crime and disorder reduction partnership level are also available.
  • The Home Office has developed an analytical tool that allows users to create their own tables and maps showing counts and rates of crime at a local authority level.
  • The Office for National Statistics provide free access to a variety of data such as population, employment and crime and justice.
  • The Economic and Social Data Services (ESDS) is a national data service providing access and support for an extensive range of key economic and social data, both quantitative and qualitative.

  • The Home Office provides information on a range of crime-related issues and policies.
  • Crime Reduction offers information and resources for those working in the field of community safety.
  • Home Office Research Development and Statistics allows access to Home Office research reports, development and practice reports and statistical publications.
  • The Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA) have a knowledge section that allows you to search for examples of good practice in local government on a range of topics.
  • The British Society of Criminology aims to further the interests and knowledge of both academics and professional who are interested in crime, criminal behaviour and the criminal justice system.
  • The Joseph Rowntree Foundation carries out social policy research and is a development charity.
  • The Social Research Association is an organisation that promotes communication among social research practitioners and those interested in social research.
  • The UK Evaluations Society promotes and improves the theory, practice, understanding and use of evaluation and its contribution to public knowledge. This includes regional evaluation networks.
  • The Center for Public-Oriented Policing is a non-profit organisation made up of affiliated police practitioners, researchers and universities dedicated to advancing problem-orientated policing.
