A Regional Cultural Consortium (RCC) has been established in each of the English regions outside London. The London Cultural Consortium is not one of the DCMS Regional Cultural Consortiums that are being replaced in other English regions.

We work closely with the Culture North East and its board to provide continued support and advice on implementing the Regional Cultural Strategy. We also work with DCMS on monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness and relevance to the needs of the region.
Culture North East's role is to ensure that culture and creativity have a strong voice in the region and that they play a full and coherent part in contributing to increasing prosperity and enjoyment of life in the region.
Culture North East achieve this by:
- championing the whole spectrum of cultural and creative interests in the region
- forging links and developing common aims for cultural activity through partnerships with regional cultural agencies and organisations
- working closely with the people of the region to create a common vision for culture, as expressed in the cultural strategy for the region
- helping to release the potential of culture and creativity for improving quality of life.
