The regional development agencies (RDAs) are business led organisations and
have a vital role as strategic drivers for the economic growth and
sustainable development of their area. This is a critical time for the RDAs
who are playing a crucial role in this exceptional economic downturn. With
key partners, they will be responsible for influencing and delivering the
Government's economic agenda for the longer term. They will become the
single body with responsibility for producing the regional skills strategy.
They will drive a jobs and growth agenda with regional partners,
regeneration and infrastructure bodies and importantly local authorities.
The role:
- provide strategic direction and leadership
- build effective relationships and influence delivery partners across
all sectors
- determine the thrust of policy.
The candidate must:
- be a strong leader and an individual of high reputation and
standing
- have a substantial track record of operating at the most senior level
in a medium to large business organisation and of providing strong
strategic direction to the organisation
- be able to demonstrate their ability to think strategically and
influence within the private, public or voluntary sectors.
Each appointment is normally for three years, with the possibility of
renewal. The time commitment is on average three days per week. To
