The Sustainable Communities North East Initiative (SCNEI) is developing the Brighter Futures Together toolkit covering 50 different subjects to help communities become more sustainable.
From the end of this month, SCNEI will be asking community groups what kind of information they think should be covered in the toolkit which will be available for use from March 2008.
Regional sustainable communities officer, Jacqueline Warren, said: “In the coming months, we would like to hear from different groups from across the region for their ideas and comments, and we will in turn compile this information and use it to create a truly practical and useful regional resource.”
Community groups can now visit www.brighterfuturestogether.co.uk to find out how to create more sustainable communities, help create the new toolkit with the chance to win £500, and submit case studies of their own work.
SCNEI is led by Sustaine – the Champion Body for sustainable development in the North East.
It is a partnership of 19 local authorities, led by Durham County Council which also hosts the regional sustainable communities officer, and includes Defra, Du Services CIC, Durham Heritage Coast, Government Office North East, North East Assembly and the Northumberland National Park Authority
