North East firms are being offered the chance to "enter the dragon" and find out about the many opportunities to do business in Hong Kong and China at a special event organised as part of International Business Month.
The "Opportunities in China and Hong Kong" event will be held at Beamish Hall Hotel, Stanley, Durham, on Wednesday, 25 June, 9.30am-3pm when experts will be on hand to offer an insight into these markets.
Zhengming Yang, UK Trade & Investment's China Business Development Manager, explained:
"While Hong Kong and China are adjacent geographically, they differ significantly in the way they do business due to their different cultural backgrounds and socio-economic factors.
"This event is an ideal opportunity to find out about the two markets, the opportunities they offer in a wide range of sectors - from the aerospace and automotive sectors to financial services and water industry - and the support available to help companies succeed."
The event will include a series of presentations with key speakers including:
- Vince Cunningham, of the China Britain Business Council - business culture and etiquette in Hong Kong and China;
- Martin Evans, Hong Kong Trade Development Council - Hong Kong, the strategic location;
- Sir Charles Denny, Associate Director of HSBC Global Markets - the relationship between RMB, HK Dollar and US Dollar and Hedge you exposure;
- Kevin Aisbitt, of One North East - assistance in the North East;
- Keith Stockdale, UK Trade & Investment - support services available through UK Trade & Investment;
- Lawrie Cunningham, former Global VP Industrial Design for Black and Decker - offers a practical insight into his own experiences of the market.
Lunch is included and there will also be an opportunity for one-to-one sessions with the experts and the chance to network over lunch.
The event is one of a series of key market and sector seminars organised by UK Trade & Investment and its partners as part of International Business Month, which runs throughout June.
