Planning

Our main role is to promote a cultural change in the planning system and deliver the Sustainable Communities Plan in the North East. We are also a communication channel for regional stakeholders and the public on planning issues that may affect them. This includes a promotional role with local authorities and other stakeholders to deliver cultural change.

We advise government ministers and act on planning issues affecting the region on their behalf. We listen to the concerns of regional stakeholders and the public about important planning issues that may affect their interests, so ministers can make fully informed decisions.

We also support the introduction of a number of initiatives for better and faster planning decisions.
