Business Continuity

All local responders must have a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). The BCP must meet the recommendations and duties of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 and its accompanying regulations and guidance. We have a plan, and each responder must also have a plan, which can be put in place quickly in times of major disruption.

We work with the local resilience forums to:

  • reinforce the important messages to local businesses
  • provide examples of good practice
  • offer assistance to cope with emergencies and disruption to their businesses.

Some key challenges that all organisations could face include:

  • flooding
  • severe weather
  • loss of utilities
  • high level of staff absence
  • fire.

Having tested plans in place, everyone from small companies to large corporations can minimise the effects of any incident or disaster on their economic well-being. This helps make the North East economy more resilient.
