Building expertise

Public Health North East aims to build expertise in the region by developing multi-skilled professionals through systematic support and training.

Regional public health groups work across government departments with a number of community and voluntary groups, non-governmental bodies and other public sector organisations to raise awareness of public health issues. More information on the national picture

These networks enable us to build a strong health component into regional programmes for crime, transport, education and skills, housing, environment and regeneration.

Public Health Intelligence

Public Health North East works closely with North East Public Health Observatory (NEPHO), which has an important role in increasing awareness of public health issues and in identifying wider causes of illness.

The main aim of NEPHO is to monitor and evaluate the health of the regional populations by analysing information and assessing health trends.
