Skills Secretary and Regional Minister welcome public sector leadership

Local Authority Leaders and Chief Executives were congratulated on Friday by John Denham, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills and Rosie Winterton, Minister for Yorkshire and the Humber, for their commitment to improving skills of their workforce, at a regional Skills Pledge celebration event in Leeds.
Speaking at the event at Leeds Metropolitan University, the Skills Secretary and Regional Minister praised the six Local Authorities that made the Skills Pledge and called on others to do the same. The six are Doncaster, York, Leeds, Rotherham, North Lincolnshire and East Riding, bringing the total to ten across the Yorkshire and the Humber region. The others are North Yorkshire, Bradford, Barnsley, and Kingston upon Hull.
